How to Make a Killer Website Landing Page

April 15, 2014

One of the reasons it is so important to create a killer website landing page is your visitors will make the determination to stay or leave your page in seconds. If the page is cluttered with videos, banners, and animations that they find intrusive, they simply hit the back button and go shop elsewhere. You literally have seconds to convince your visitors they need to stay on your landing page and read further. If you can optimize your landing page using a few of the following techniques, you will be in a much better position to increase your lead and sales conversion rates.

One of the most important things that you can do with your landing page is simply make it easy for the visitor to make a purchase or perform the specific action you desire. Too many landing pages are cluttered with so much content it makes decision making near impossible for the visitor. To get a person to perform a certain task you have to lead them right to that call to action quickly with the least amount of distractions. If you can get them one step closer to making that purchase, your landing page becomes a much more effective marketing tool.

Your website can have several different landing pages, each helping the visitor to perform a certain action. If you want to grow your email list, create a landing page that takes them right to the sign up box where they enter their details. Sprinkle in some of the benefits or rewards for signing up, and lead them right to the information. If you want to giveaway free samples in the hopes of selling future products, lead them to the product page, list all the potential benefits, and get them to leave their mailing information. The most effective landing pages gets to the point very quickly, mainly because the attention span of most visitors is short due to all the potential distractions around them online.

When you are promoting a specific product or service that you sell on many of the social media platforms, it is important to link the keyword to the product. This way you create a landing page that is also highly relevant, helping you to get those pages indexed much faster by the search engine spiders. This way that landing page is completely focused on one thing only--selling a particular product or service. Be sure to include a powerful and concise headline on the landing page. This will not only grab the visitors attention, it will show them the value in making a purchase from you.

Be sure to keep it very simple when it comes to creating landing pages on your website by giving each page its own single objective. This will help to get the focus of the visitor on the task at hand, and get them to complete the desired action. You already have them on your website. The key is to get them to complete the action as fast as possible before any potential distraction takes them away from completing the action.
